As a condition of entry to the Cape to Glen event, I acknowledge and agree to the following:
1. Remote Mountain Environment
I understand that the Event takes place in one of the most remote and challenging environments in the United Kingdom, including sections of the Cape Wrath Trail and surrounding Highland terrain.

- Large sections of the route are far from roads, settlements and immediate assistance.
- Mobile phone coverage may be limited, intermittent or completely unavailable for extended periods.
- Weather conditions can deteriorate rapidly and without warning.
- Rescue, evacuation and medical assistance may be significantly delayed due to terrain, weather, location or availability of emergency services.
- Participation may involve prolonged periods of isolation from other competitors, marshals and support personnel.
2. Mountain Hazards
I understand and voluntarily accept the risks associated with travel through remote mountain and wilderness environments, including but not limited to:

- Encounters with livestock, wildlife and natural hazards;
- Injury or illness occurring in locations where assistance may not be immediately available.
3. Self-Sufficiency
I acknowledge that the Event requires a high degree of personal responsibility and self-sufficiency.
I confirm that I am capable of:
- Making sound decisions regarding my own safety and wellbeing;
- Assessing environmental conditions and adjusting my pace, route choice or participation accordingly;
- Looking after my own hydration, nutrition and personal welfare between support points;
- Managing equipment, clothing and emergency supplies appropriate for mountain conditions;
- Navigating using the tools and methods specified by the Organiser;
- Recognising signs of injury, illness, hypothermia, heat illness, dehydration and exhaustion.
4. Mandatory Equipment
I understand that mandatory equipment requirements exist for my safety.
I agree to:
- Carry all mandatory equipment specified by Cape Wrath Ltd at all times when required;
- Maintain equipment in a safe and serviceable condition;
- Present equipment for inspection upon request;
- Accept that failure to carry mandatory equipment may result in penalties, removal from the Event or disqualification.
5. Emergency Situations

- Take reasonable steps to assist another participant where it is safe to do so;
- Contact Event Control or Emergency Services where possible;
- Remain self-sufficient until assistance arrives;
- Follow instructions given by Event Officials, Medical Personnel or Emergency Services.
I acknowledge that assistance may not be immediately available and that personal responsibility remains essential throughout the Event.
6. Decision to Continue
I understand that conditions encountered during the Event may exceed those experienced during training.
I accept full responsibility for assessing whether I am capable of safely continuing at any point and agree to withdraw if I believe continuing would present an unreasonable risk to myself or others.
